I would like to get to the top

In this Show you are riding “Camel de L’isle”, the horse Cayetano Martínez de Irujo won the Grand Prix with in the 2000 edition.

C.M.: Yes, I started with this horse in the Sunshinetour , where we disputed only a few tests as long as the horse before this was at rest for a year because of an injury. At this show, he jumped extraordinary the second day with only a fault in the last obstacle. We will participate in the Copa de S.M. El Rey.

With this horse you can ride big classes

C.M.: Yes, now I have a good group of horses in order to compete big, on top of “Camel de L’isle” I’m riding also another mare of Cayetano “Sonsoles”. “Camel de L’isle”, is a very experienced horse that makes me possible to face big tests with guaranties.
 

Your main responsability at Cayetano stable is to prepare the young horses.

C.M.: This is my task. I start with the horses bred by Cayetano when they are three years old.

The results are there, one of the mares bred by Cayetano, “Sonsoles”, is competing yet at internationals.

C.M.: I think “Sonsoles” is a mare that can get quite high and at the end of this year it will finish fulfilling the big classes well. I’m very satisfied with it’s progression.

What is your aim in this sport?

C.M.: I would like to get to the top, although is quite complex. By now, what I have to do is continuing working every day and learning as much as possible. Then, we’ll see.

The future is assured, Cayetano is breeding well with verified mares and with important stallions.

C.M.: I think he is doing very well. We have horses that are showing very good conditions. Now, Cayetano has incorporated a CSI Grand Prix winner mare, “Showtime”, that has already had a first product , a son of “Padarco”. This Mare will produce for sure very important horses.

What is your opinion about this CSI of Madrid?

C.M.: This show is very well, we jump high and it maintains a good level. It’s a pity the Spanish riders are not allowed to compete with three horses as the riders coming from other countries. There are a lot of professionals, that this is their way of live and they should have the same possibilities as the foreign riders.
